Just a reminder to always clear your vehicle windows of ice before driving

“A woman who scraped some but not all the ice from Tuesday’s storm off her windshield crashed into a mailbox and flipped over on Thursday, Ramapo police said. She was slightly injured in the crash and had to be extracted from the car by the Monsey Fire Department.

Earlier today Ramapo PD responded to a car crash on Bluejay St in the Village of Chestnut Ridge. The investigation revealed that the 61 year old female operator failed to scrape the ice from her vehicles windshield. The operator’s view was obstructed due to the ice covered windshield. As a result, she crashed into a brick mailbox.”

No matter how late you’re running, it’s never a good idea to forgo clearing your windshield and other auto glass from ice. For one, you’re putting other motorists and pedestrians at risk by limiting your visibility. Of course, there’s also the chance that you’ll be in an accident not involving others as shown in this case. All it takes to avoid such a problem is a little extra time and patience. Warm your car up for 10 or so minutes before you need to leave and that ice will be easy to remove.
