Lightning sends chunk of road flying into oncoming truck’s windshield

“Just after 7:30 AM this morning, WCFR was dispatched to a traffic crash near mile marker 81 eastbound on I-10.

Lightning struck the roadway, causing a chunk of the road to fly through the windshield of the truck.

Both occupants of the vehicle were transported with injuries.

Fortunately, most of the bad weather is past us now, but please be careful out there this morning. Slow down and be on the lookout for storm damage and debris in the roadways.”

Reading the post, there are numerous follow-up comments and photos from the fire department detailing the event.
