Florida bill aims to require insurers inspect broken windshields before repair

“Florida Rep. Rene Plasencia has proposed an amendment to current legislation that would require an inspection of a windshield’s damage by an insurer before it is repaired or replaced. The bill has been pre-filed in the Florida state legislature, and, if passed, could have implications for the auto glass industry within the state.

The proposed amendment reads, “A policy under this section may require an inspection of the damaged windshield of a covered motor vehicle before the windshield repair or replacement is authorized by the insurer.”
